US Topo Maps - use your Android Phone/Tablet like an outdoor GPS.

The US Topo Maps app lets you download map tiles for offline usage. This allows you to take your Android Phone or Tablet into areas with little or no cellular service and still use your device for navigation.

There are over 100,000 maps available for free download. There are dozens of map layers and overlays available, allowing you to see additional detail about the terrain through which you are traveling, as well as real-time current and predicted weather conditions.

In the paid version, you can set up routes and waypoints on your device, and set up go-to-waypoint navigation to guide you along the desired route. As you travel, you can track your distance traveled and average speed. In addition, you can track your bearing and altitude. The free version allows up to 3 waypoints and 3 tracks, but, unfortunately, no routes. After your trip, you can share waypoints, tracks and routes via your favorite sharing app.
