The Club Penguin app offered a snowy world of fun

The Club Penguin app offered a snowy world of fun. Children and adults were able to access the massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) known as Disney's Club Penguin on their Android devices with ease until Disney shut down the Club Penguin servers in March 2017. Club Penguin was replaced with another MMORPG that same month known as Club Penguin Island.

Unlike many modern original MMORPGs, Club Penguin gave players the ability to explore a non-violent virtual world where they could interact with other children or adults. The game focused primarily on providing a safe environment for children to learn and have fun.

Via the Club Penguin app, players could access the same features available through desktop and laptop computers. Each player was assigned a penguin character that they could customize with a body color, unique name and clothing and accessory options. In the Club Penguin world, a snowy landscape similar to a rural ski lodge town area, players enjoyed an igloo home and safe chat with one another. They could visit local shops and a dance club, compete in games, discover hidden secrets and participate in thematic parties. Club Penguin also featured an underlying story where a character could become a spy. A newer app provides similar Android access to Club Penguin Island.
